A quick trip along Manoa Cliffs trail to check out some native plants! Tectaria gaudichaudii was a fun find. What is that wormy looking thing? Not a plant! And the hibiscus trees were blooming a spectacular kind of way.
Looks like I forgot how to add updates to my own updates page! So - a long overdue update. I finished my PhD in August, amidst the ongoing pandemic and a horribly historic fire season in California. I managed one last California botanical adventure: going to see the resplendent Darlingtonia californica in Shasta Trinity National Forest (by Gumboot lake). After readying my possessions and dog for a cross-Pacific voyage, we arrived to my childhood home in Honolulu, HI, where I will work as a postdoc at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa Department of Biology with Dr. Rosana Zenil-Ferguson. I'm excited to begin this new adventure in an old place!
